The BMW Exterior
The 3-Series has strong headlamps, a contemporary kidney grille, and flared air intakes from the front, but turn to the side and the new profile emerges. Regulations about pedestrian safety have caused the hood to be lower at the show but taller overall than the previous generation. Overall, it still conveys the 3-Series’ luxury, performance, and utility harmony.
The Cabin & Interior
The 2014 BMW 3-Series has a roomy interior, with an inch more legroom than pre-2013 versions thanks to an additional two inches of wheelbase. The available sports seats extend thigh and side support for more aggressive driving, and the front seats are also very customisation. Adults can now sit comfortably in the second row on well-contoured chairs, while front-seat occupants have plenty of room in all directions.
Specifications
A variety of four- and six-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engines and a four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. Customization of the design and equipment is possible thanks to various trim lines.
The 320i. The 320i is BMW’s response to the Mercedes-Benz CLA Class and Audi A3 sedan, featuring the same basic 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine found in the 328i but detuned to 180 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. The 328i, rated at 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, is the next rung up the ladder. The 335i is the top-tier standard model and comes with a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine with ratings of 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. With 181 horsepower from a turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, the 328d is the solution for those looking for better fuel efficiency. All sedan versions come standard with rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive an option. The standard is a six-speed manual transmission with an optional eight-speed automatic transmission.
There is also a 2014 3-Series wagon available. The same 240-horsepower engine found in the 328i sedan, or the 181-horsepower four-cylinder diesel for 328d xDrive Sports Wagon variants. Both standard on all wagons, along with the all-wheel drive. Additionally, all 3-Series Gran Turismo versions come standard with all-wheel drive. The 328i and 335i sedans’ engines are identical to those used in the Gran Turismo line.
